As you can see, Sowe Girls are women from all walks of life...
Sometimes we're lucky enough to meet you in the flesh (at the beach, on a trip, in our pop-up stores), sometimes our paths cross thanks to social networks... ! But that doesn't stop us from forging very special bonds with some of you. Even when you're thousands of kilometers away and 1 or 2 oceans separate us (no less!).
We've known Yohanny, aka Yoha, for 1 year now. A kite surfer with a passion for extreme sports AND bikinis! Every exchange is precious, and it's always fascinating to be able to share things with someone who doesn't live in the same environment or conditions as we do.
Yoha is Venezuelan, from a small village called Adicora, where she spent all her youth. This "wind paradise", as she calls it, is where she discovered her passion 10 years ago: kite surfing. She was the first woman to practice the sport in this region, which led her to make it her profession. From the day she set foot on a kiteboard, she never stopped, and decided to pass on and teach the sport to everyone.
After a few years teaching in Adicora, she was offered the chance to work in a new, equally paradisiacal location: Los Roques.
It was an obvious choice for her to accept such an offer, and she has now been living on this incredible archipelago for 5 years. A magnificent island where life is good, a small town where everyone knows everyone... You wake up to the sound of the waves, the smell of the sea, and everything around you is bursting with sunshine.
"Every day I experience something exceptional".
After having her little boy Kael, she gradually took up lessons again. Like his mom, Kael seems to be the happiest boy in the world, spending his days playing in the sand and enjoying the natural surroundings.
When she was pregnant, Yoha was nicknamed "the pregnant kiter" because they'd never seen a mother-to-be practice so much during her pregnancy.
And as we're always thinking about our next trips, she gave us a few tips for Venezuela:
Her favorite kite surfing spot: Saki Saki, a giant natural pool with shallow waters... Perfect conditions for teaching and freestyling.
Play Los Roques: more than a kitesurfing school, it's also a travel agency, a bar and a restaurant all in one... A real meeting place where you're sure to bump into her!
Venezuela is magnificent, and her advice to us is not to be afraid to go! She wouldn't leave this place for the world, her family is happy here and she lives here as if in a dream.
This Sowe Girl, a true ambassador beyond borders, is even ready to help you organize your trip to get the most out of it!
